Synopse
Looking for a Place to Happen – Spotlight on Young Canadian Animators
Since Norman McLaren and the National Film Board of Canada (NFB), founded in 1939, first lit up this vast, mysterious landscape, Canadian animation has pushed technical and conceptual boundaries. Long caught between Britain and the U.S., Canada has wrestled with identity – echoing the NFB’s aim to “interpret Canada to Canadians and to other nations.” Today we recognize that in-betweenness as a strength. These young artists from across the country – coast to coast to coast – draw on a proudly multicultural Canada, pairing fearless experimentation with stories that are playful, intimate, and richly layered – returning to home, belonging, memory, and voice – in forms that surprise, delight, and unsettle.
Chris Robinson
Ottawa International Animation Festival, Artistic Director
All films are shown in the original language with English subtitles.
Video and photo recordings will be made during the festival. Please inform our photographers if you do not wish to be recorded. If you have any questions, please contact our information desk or send an email to info@jugendfilmtage.
