Section Focus Japon I: Heartbeat of Japan

Synopsis

In the focus program, we put the spotlight on the young filmmaking of a selected country and work together with internationally renowned film festivals.
This year, the two programs «Heartbeat of Japan» and «Whispers Seem Enigmatic» give us exciting insights into young Japanese filmmaking.
«Heartbeat of Japan» was curated by Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Tokyo.

«The Academy Awards®-qualifying Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia in Tokyo was founded in 1999, now receives around 5,000 submissions annually from across the world. Among these, Japanese short films stand out with their unique storytelling and distinctive rhythm.
The program «Heartbeat of Japan» presents seven remarkable short films by emerging Japanese filmmakers. From deeply emotional dramas to nostalgic animations, as well as thought-provoking and unconventional works, you will feel the strong heartbeat of each filmmaker and be captivated by their talents.»
